Three reasons to use Placeholders.

1. While it's not entirely known to be the case, it is thought that the age of a domain is important for SEO. Therefore, it could be a good idea, at least in theory, to get your domain and put up some placeholder text/images while you are designing your main website. Not to mention the advantage of having a place to which you can send people if needed.

2. Placeholder text and images can make a great first impression to your visitors while you are still building out your full site.
